Cave Penney family and others, c. 1909

This image was included in a collection of images of the Cave Penney family. The family lived and farmed at Rogues Roost, and lived at Little Roost, Sherwell (Sherril), Poundsgate, from about 1907 to 1984. Veronica (b. 1900) stands with the donkey; sitting on it are the two younger children, Frank (b.1903) and Humphrey (b. 1906). Tony (b. 1899) stands holding the dog’s lead. In the doorway, standing second left, is the children’s mother, Amelia; third left is her daughter, Joan. The others in the photograph are unknown but do not include Amelia’s husband: he had died in 1907. The photograph appears to have been taken on the same day as CP 0004: the four youngest Cave Penney children are wearing the same clothes as in that image.
