Autumn at Stover Canal, 2016

This shows an area between Jetty Marsh and the old Exeter Road in November 2016. The construction of the Stover canal was financed by James Templer II. It cut through his own land under the direction of engineer Thomas Gray of Exeter. Work started at the Jetty Marsh in January 1790 and, by March, the first cargo had left for Teignmouth docks from Teignbridge on the old Exeter Road.
