Group portrait, possibly at Dartington

This photograph was brought by the donor to the Image Bank, framed and mounted, in November 2024, having been found in a skip in Bridgetown 'many years ago'. We have no confirmed information about the people, the event, the date or the location. Responses on Facebook have suggested possible connections with the Champernowne family of Dartington and maybe also with Aller Park there. Arthur Melville Champernowne came of age in August 1892. His widowed mother held at least two events at Dartington in September that year to mark the occasion. Is this photograph connected? Who are the participants? Why are so few men shown? Does the photograph show Dartington? Is it taken on one of the tennis courts that existed at Dartington Hall in the Champernownes' time and at Dartington School? It has also been suggested that the bearded man in the back row is the composer Timothy (Tim) Moore and that this shows a production of The Mikado at Dartington (Foxhole) School. Tim Moore was a pupil at Dartington School and returned later to become its Director of Music. The Image Bank would welcome further leads and information.
