Salmon fishing on the River Dart

Noel Collings in his brother's boat at Slack Quarry opposite Dittisham, so known because of the limited tidal movement that induced the fish to "come in across and turn down into it". The water bailiff is on the shore watching, but the fishing is licensed. The photograph was taken in the early 2000s, just a few years before such licences were withdrawn.
