This is part of a collection relating to a project of the U3A Totnes Photography Group in May 2023. The project, 'Totnes Old and New' was to take an old photo from the Totnes Image Bank and take a new photo of the present view as near as possible from the same viewpoint. The original photo above is a view of the old Post Office at 27 Fore Street, Totnes, on the day that the Post Office business was moving to a new address a short distance away. The postmaster, Mr W.J.Rymes, who lived above the shop, can be seen looking out of an upstairs window. The modern photo shows the same building, now W.H.Smith.
