Alfred Bamsey, 'Keeper'
'Keeper' Alfred Bamsey at Lower Corner Pool. He was employed by Mr Struben of Spitchwick Manor, 1902-1930. In the 1911 Census, he is living at Coronation Cottage, Poundsgate, with his wife, five sons and two daughters. He described himself on the census form as 'Head Game Keeper Domestic'. He was born about 1861 in Woodbury; his wife was also born there, around 1863. The 1911 census form records that Alfred and his wife Elizabeth had had 13 children 'born alive', of whom 11 were still living at that time. Tom Bamsey, aged 19 in 1911, was recorded as 'Under Game Keeper Domestic', and his brother, John, was a 'Groom domestic'. DRA 3982 PW 063
