Greenway Ferry

Greenway Ferry. Paddle steamer with curved stem said to be first of the three Kingswear Castles. This ferry is now lying as hulk by left bank upstream from Duncannon. Arrived on river 1904, replaced 1924. Served time as an isolation hospital in Dartmouth harbour, then burnt to avoid infection and put on bank of Dart at Fleet Mill. The second is in Isle of Wight - preserved. The pennant is house flag of River Dart Steamboat Co Ltd (formerly the Dartmouth & Torbay Steam Packet Co Ltd). First Kingswear Castle was built by Cox & Co, Falmouth, 1904. In 1908 there were four paddle steamers on the Dartmouth to Totnes run - Dartmouth Castle, Berry Castle, Totnes Castle, Kingswear Castle.
