Redoubt Hotel, Kingswear
POSTCARD of the Redoubt Hotel, Kingswear. It was built in the 1860s as a gentleman's house. Inside Civil War (1642-6) fort of banks & ditches which became part of the garden. From 1984, after the building had changed hands a number of times, it became timeshare apartments. According to its website (November 2025), after the fort fell into disrepair, the land was first purchased 'by a wealthy gentleman from Bristol, Mr A. H. Wansey; possibly the President of the Bristol Law Society from 1891 – 91. He built a seaside holiday home for his family known as Redoubt Mansion'. DRA 6383 KW 023
