Neo-classical doorway of Oldstone Mansion

This shows part of the ruined Oldstone Mansion, Blackawton, the former home of the Dimes family. It was destroyed by fire on the night of Saturday 16 February 1895. On 22 February, the Dartmouth and South Hams Chronicle published an account of events, as well as a letter of thanks from the owner, W S Dimes, to those who tried to help. The same doorway can be seen in other images, including in a watercolour of the house before the fire (DRA 3904). *** DRA 5225 BA 027
