Hamlyn family, c.1925

Mr & Mrs John Hamlyn with children Leslie, Joan, Marjorie, George and Ken, c.1925. Mrs Hamlyn nee Irene Rogers, daughter of vicar of Woodland - privately educated and nurtured by parents eloped with John Hamlyn, one of her fathers bell ringers (not a suitable match?) When asked why he had eloped, John answered 'What good me askin' for what I'd never get?' The vicar never really forgave him. He used to play violin, Lottie Wrayford on piano, at Mrs Rogers ballroom dancing classes once a week. DRA 0499 W 006
