Beatrix Carew, 1842-1919

Beatrix 'B' Carew (b 1842, d 1919). Together with elder sister Elizabeth (Bessie), they inherited both Haccombe House near Newton Abbot and Marley House near Rattery. Their father, Sir Walter Palk Carew, was 8th Baronet (b.1807, d.1874). Their brother, also called Walter Palk Carew, took his own life in June 1873. Since neither sister married, the line of the family has died out. Marley House became Syon Abbey. Sir Walter Carew's will was proved in 1874. DRA 0406 R 030
