Ada Atwill, 1899

Ada Louisa Ann Atwill was born on 7 January 1889 at Broadhempston, the daughter of Emma Eliza and William Atwill. In the 1891 Census, Ada is recorded as living at Hound Head, Broadhempston, with her parents and five of her siblings who were living there at that time. William Atwill is recorded in that census as a stone mason, an insurance agent and a clerk to the school board. Ada is shown here outside the schoolmaster's house in Broadhempston in 1899. Later, she became a monitor and, later still, became a teacher in Surrey, before returning to Broadhempston and continuing to teach. She married Reginald E Harris in 1921. DRA 0214 BHM 027
