Hallsands 1903

Hallsands 1903. London Inn after the autumn storms of 1903. Kitchen, beer cellar, bedroom & conservatory washed away. Caused by dredging of pebble beach started in 1897. Ridge which had protected the houses subsided and left them vulnerable to high tide and storm damage. Storm in Jan 1917 finally wiped out whole village bar one house. 37 houses were lost altogether.
