Cross Tree

Abbotskerswell - Part of the Square, originally known as Cross Tree because of large oak tree in centre of road junction. Tree blown down and replaced by chestnut tree to commemorate Coronation in 1902. When destroyed by car smash was replaced in 1911 by lamp standard - to celebrate George V Coronation. DRA 1495 ABK 040
