Passmore Edwards Public Library & Technical School, Newton Abbot, completed 1904. Mr Passmore Edwards (1823-1911) was Cornish philanthropist who financed this building in memory of his mother who was a native of Newton - her maiden name was Passmore. Head of publishing empire he founded 23 public libraries and many other useful buildings. DRA 1482 NA 029
