Abbotskerswell Church c1906
Abbotskerswell - Church of St Mary c 1906. Gate no longer there. Now a clock in the tower presented by Mrs Marcus Hare in 1908. Wood lych gate said to be oldest dated one in England. Grade ll* Listed Church of St Mary built on a Saxon site. The wooden church rebuilt in stone C13 by the Abbey of Sherborne. Reconstructed again C15 and rebuilt in 1884 (total renovation) by architect William Butterfield. The village war memorial is inside the church and is a very grand piece of work by Newton Abbot stone mason W.H. Crossman. DRA 1346 ABK 004
