Buckfast Abbey before 1907 when new building began. Chimney in background is John Berry blanket factory (demolished 1979). Purchased 1882 from dr Gate of Plymouth by French Benedictines, gradually rebuilt quarters and remodelled Berrys house. CARD 8545 DRA 1031 B 060
