Buttercombe Cottage, Ogwell, right, Buttercombe House beyond c.1925. Roof of bakery can just be seen at bottom of hill. Buttercombe House Farm was destroyed by fire in April 1929. House was well ablaze when fire brigade arrived and due to inadequate water supply they were unable to save it but managed to stand by and protect the adjoining house which wwas thatched. At this time it was the residence of Mr G.K. Riddle, a well known hockey player and team sec of South Devon Club and figured in the County X DRA 0844 OG 008
