Stevens Farm Cottages

Stevens Farm Cottages, Bridge Street, Ipplepen. Farmhouse built by Philip Horswell c1880 on site of one of his barns. The portico is supported by 2 octagonal pillars of local grey marble which were removed from the Old Wesley Chapel, built 1826. They were abandoned when the nnew chapel was opned at Lands End Cross. Mr Horswell was described as a mason and cowkeeper. The dairy farm ceased about 1971 but Horswell's granddaughter still lives there. The stone pillar, left, has been removed. A five-barred gate was attached to it and a long drawn out legal battle continues between the local council and the owner about its removal. DRA 0154 IP 032
