George Vl Coronation, 1937
George Heath's shop at 41 High Street, decorated for the Coronation of George Vl in 1937. Heath's business was started by his father, around 1923, who had previously sold his trade from the market. He bought this shop by auction; it had not been in a good state. The previous owner had been a baker and biscuit maker. William Cole (see elsewhere in this archive) had, at one time, owned these premises; he later owned the Town Mill. An old oven and flour house was found at the back, also stables. The premises needed a lot of work and this was done by Ern Nott (father of E.Nott at Veaseys).
