Holy Street Mill c1860

Holy Street Mill at Chagford c1860. DP7. photograph by J.Brinley, Totnes. Original Holy Street Well was C11 in origin and ground corn, continuing to do so until C19. Chagford became the first place west of London to light its street by electricity. The tumbling streams & rivers of the parish were ideal for this purpose and both the mill at Yeo and that of Holy Street were later adapted for this purpose.
