Fire at 4 The Plains 31.01.1986. 40 Firemen fought the blaze, the premises so badly damaged that it had to be pulled to the ground by a demolition team. Home of Green Shoes, Raggs Fabric and other clothes design and Hazel Selina - massage & metamorphic techniques amd Women's Community Centre. Eight women were left without jobs. Businesses were about to buy the building from its owner, Mrs Carol Briscoe. BW/136/0011
