Fore Street

Fore Street & East Gate Rowe - 67 Fore Street. Alderman Robert Francis Rowe, Mayor 1947-49. Manager of Totnes Office of the Ministry of Labour. On return from army service WW1 he took up welfare work on behalf of ex-servicemen and was the Hon Sec of Totnes branch of the British Legion and for over 25 years was the secretary & organiser of Totnes Carnival. He was elected to the Town Council in 1937. Died November 1957.
