Cherry Cross. Cherry Cross - now located on Totnes Down Hill. Totnes legend says if you walk around backwards three times and look up to window in entrance to Dart Villas you could see a ghost!!! From the Good Town of Totnes by Percy Russell - It seems there was an early settlement a little to the south, near Totnes, at St Peter's Quay. On high ground immediately to the south of the landing place stands the ancient 8-acre estate of Cherry Cross with a restored mediaeval cross at the roadside, a name possibly derived from 'church' and 'farm', as in Cheriton.
