K1926 Roman Catholic Church in South Street, originally a secondary school, dedicated to St Mary & St George abd served from Buckfast Abbey. FRom TT opened 23.01.1902 by Rev Father Dowsett of Chudleigh. Priest - Father Wilfred Schneider O.S.B. The schoolroom (of the late schoolmaster Mr W.L.Eyon) at Hill House reportedly became the ornate Roman Catholic Church.
