Chateau Bellevue Hotel, Newton Road. POSTCARD KENNETH 1889 From TT 28.03.2012 - The premises were built in 1817. In 1962 there were 19 letting rooms with a capacity for 48 resident guests. The dining room could seat 55 whilst the basement housed a large and Attractive lounge bar, a smaller cocktail bar & dance floor. The 4 acres of ground including tennis courts & a swimming pool with parking for 60 cars. At this time members mixed with nonmembers with a great deal of passing trade on the Newton Road. Mr George Alty & his wife purchased the hotel 3 years ago and were joined as partners last year by Mr & Mrs Fred Bridge. With a successful application he intended to give up the club licence. Since the previous April he had 41 functions and had to refuse a further 17 because of difficulty of licence. Ditto JB
