The Mansion

The Mansion - 36 Fore Street. Reverse reads - King Edward V1 Grammar School, founded in 1509 and granted the royal charter in 1553, is to be closed in 1950 if a recent County Council decision is carried into effect, The school is one of the oldest in the West and the Governors and local townspeople are to protest against the Council's decision to close it. Headmaster is Mr. C.D.T.Owen MA, and the chairman of the Governors Lt.Col. Frank Windeatt. Our picture shows the creeper-grown front of the old school which stands in the main street of Totnes.'
