Market Hall

Entrance to the old market. E.C.Fordam Stores, left, Mr Fordam was an evacuee from London, the shop being on the site of the old fire station (opened 1899 and above shop). The Market Hall of 1594 was replaced in 1848 and the new building converted to a public hall in 1948 and destroyed by fire in 1955. Telephone box outside entrance to Market Hall. Ref B2/E1
