Etching of North Gate, Totnes, by Edna Adah Arthur (born Fry), 1948. She was born in 1902 St.Thomas. Married to Mervyn Arthur 1927 (? a chemist), one daughter, Sheila J.Arthur b.1928. While becoming an apprentice milliner she attended evening classes at the Royal Albert Memorial School of Fine Art and after marriage came to live in Totnes until WW2 broke out when she became a billeting officer. In 1960 the couple sold their business and Edna sold her etching press and they moved to Bigbury until 1971 when they moved to Newton Abbot and Edna bought a new etching press. Her first one man show was at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter, in 1974, and she later exhibited at Chagford. She died 1989 in Penzance, age 87.
