Minesweeper No.1078 1940s

Minesweeper No. 1078 in Mill Tail roped to tree on the Island. Old sheds and warehouses can be seen in the background. 1078 hull was prepared at Par, Cornwall and fitted out at Totnes as Par had no fitting out facilities. Work started in 1940 at Totnes. 23 minesweepers built and fitted out at Totnes, all of them wooden. 16 x 105ft type. 7 x 125ft type. Also 400 x 64ft wooden barges erected from fabricated parts during 1945 and 902 steel "Braithwaite" cells used in construction of pontoons.
