Minesweeper 1940

Team building wooden minesweepers in the 1940s. Work started in 1940 at Totnes. 23 minesweepers built and fitted out at Totnes, all of them wooden. 16 x 105ft type. 7 x 125ft type. Also 400 x 64ft wooden barges erected from fabricated parts during 1945 and 902 steel "Braithwaite" cells used in construction of pontoons. Included in this group are Mr Syms, Mr Higgs, Bill Westaway, Ned Syms and Percy Titball. Tom Rowe was one of the managers employing carpentry side.
