COPYRIGHT CLAIRE HORNSEY, MATERIAL STORED IN IMAGE BANK ARCHIVE. Church Walk c1725 - columns date from 1611. In front of St.Mary's Church, pillars now at the Guildhall. Church Walk or Alottery. Built 1611. Erected in the High Street 1611, built and presented to the town by Rychard Lee (Mayor 1603, 1616, & 1619). His name remains at the top of two pillars. 1719 in ruinous condition and repaired at the expense of Nicholas Trist. Taken down in 1878 by order of the Borough Justices it being in a dangerous state.
