Minesweeper 1940s

Wooden Minesweeper at St Peters Quay in the Mill Tail - 1940s Work started in 1940 at Totnes. 23 minesweepers built and fitted out at Totnes, all of them wooden. 16 x 105ft type. 7 x 125ft type. Also 400 x 64ft wooden barges erected from fabricated parts during 1945 and 902 steel "Braithwaite" cells used in construction of pontoons.
