Guildhall pre1878

Guildhall before alterations in 1878 and the old Grammar School. In 1890 the old Grammar School was purchased by the Town Council and this was used as the Police Station and prison cells. DP2 In 1553 the grammar school was adapted from Priory domestic buildings built over vaults, It was rebuilt in 1630 as a two storey building. In 1887 the school moved to the Mansion and the building was immediately demolished and rebuilt as a police station with new cells between it and the guildhall.
