From a book entitled "Fern Paradise" written in 1878 by F.G.Heath, with photographs by J.Brinley.This is known as Fishcheaters Lane.From TT 1907 - Author of The Fern Paradise, Mr Francis Heath, who was born in Totnes, has now come to live in his native county, having just taken up residence near Exeter.It is a compliment to Devon that The Fern Paradise has been sold in every English-speaking country in the world. Many of the descriptions in the book owe their origin to the exquisite beauty of the green lanes and sparkling streams in and around Totnes.
