Claude Hutchings stone-crushing in quarry at Afton 1920s. The Hutchings' ran a road contracting business and initially the council gave them the contract for cleaning the roadside drains in Littlehempston parish a 13 mile area with more later. Conveyed stones to cracking-up-laybys for yarding up.
