Coronation 1953

Mr & Mrs Nott, Mayor & Mayoress - unveiling plaque for HM Coronation 1953. Town Sergeant, Mr Maddick. Mr Jacka. Vicar Rev Samuels. This monument has since been moved a little further up. Mayor unveils stone tablet: commemorating the laying out of flower gardens, the vicar offered a short dedicatory prayer. The Mayor gave a short speech "We trust this garden, when completed, and attains its full beauty. The tablet was inscribed: This garden was laid out to commemorate the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, June 2nd 1953. E.S. Nott, Mayor, G.E. Windeatt.
