Torquay Harbour 1920s
Copied photo's from an old album of the 1920s - by Allen Brown of Winchester. CD held in CD Originals on Disc Box 1. Submarine in Torquay Harbour 1920s Submarine H49, laid down 15 July 1919 and commissioned in October. She survived until WW2 when sunk by depth charge by German Patrol craft off Texel, Netherlands on 18 October 1940. Only one survivor rescued by German trawler and spent the rest of the war as a POW at Marlag. The wreck is considered a war grave.
