Buckland Abbey

Buckland Abbey, Nr Yelverton. Established 1278, home to Cistercian Monks who built the Abbey, until 1539 when Henry V111's Dissolution of Monastries. Became home of Sir Richard Grenville. In 1531 house purchased by Sir Francis Drake. 1948 property aquired by National Trust - now houses the Drake, Naval & West Country Folk Museum.
