Mayoral Procession 1927
Totnes Mayor, Ald Robert Drennan leaves Totnes Parish church after Mayoral election, 1927. Leading the civic procession is Arthur Williams, town sergeant, followed by macebearers John Potter (was a cooper for Symons Cyder) & Jack Gill,left. With Ald Drennan is Ald James Sanders Brock, the school attendance officer. Behind the mayor is George Windeatt, town clerk for about 40 years in succession to his father. Beside him is his cousin Lieut.Col F.K.Windeatt (made Freeman of the Borough of Totnes ). Behind them are Ald C.F.Rea, Grammar School headmaster,& on his right Ald F.Horne, monumental mason and just behind him Ald E.B.Stoyle. Col.F.K.Windeatt & Arthur Williams were two of three soldiers made Freemen of the Borough after their return from the Boer War.
